German courses Vienna: FAQ 1
1. Before start of German
course in Vienna:
1.1. When do I have to register
for my German courses in Vienna?
The earlier the better. There are never more than 10 pupils
in our German courses in Vienna, which means that we can
only accept a limited number of participants in our courses.
1.2. Up to what date at the
latest should I register for my German courses in Vienna?
If you want to do German courses at a particular time
of day, you should apply at least 3-4 weeks before the
German courses start. Registrations at short notice
do not in themselves constitute a problem, as long as
there are still places available. But don't be disappointed
if there are no places left for your desired German course
in Vienna or a particular time of day, as many German
courses at DeutschAkademie Vienna are booked out in advance.
A rule of thumb is: If you want to reserve a German course
without accommodation in Vienna, you should do so at least 2 to
3 weeks before the German courses start.
1.3. How can I register for
German courses at DeutschAkademie Vienna?
If you live in Vienna:
If you live in Vienna, call in at our office. Here you can book or reserve German
courses, and we have time to pick out the right German

If you are not in Vienna or if you are in another country, you can also reserve your
German courses by email or fax. As soon as you have transferred

receipt (transfer form), and we will keep a place in the
German course in Vienna open for you. As soon as the money
comes into our account, we will make a firm booking for
you.
1.4. How does it work with
reservations from other countries?
If you are reserving your German courses at DeutschAkademie
Vienna from outside Austria, it is best to transfer the
money for the German courses and/or accommodation in Vienna 4 weeks
in advance, to make sure of having a place on the German
courses at DeutschAkademie Vienna.
1.5. Will the DeutschAkademie
Vienna help me with my visa application?
You get a visa at the responsible Austrian Embassy in
your home country. We are glad to send an enrolment confirmation of your German courses in Vienna
direct to the Embassy. But we can only do that if the
German courses in Vienna are already paid for. You must
bear any possible costs for registered postage.

to a German course level?
We have various tests you can do. Generally one or two written tests will suffice. Sometimes an oral test is also necessary to allocate you to a German course.
1.9. How can I do a German
test?
If you live in Vienna:
Just call in at our office during office hours. It is
always better if we can also speak to you and listen to
you in person. That way, we can give you the best possible
advice for your German courses.
If you don't live in Vienna: We are also happy to send you a test by email or fax.
As general rule: We can't reserve any German courses in
Vienna for you until you have done a test-unless you are
a complete beginner.
1.10. Can I also take out
cancellation insurance for my German courses in Vienna?
Yes, you can do that. Cancellation insurance costs 3%
of the total German courses costs and applies only to German
courses without accommodation.
The cancellation insurance covers the costs of your German
courses in Vienna if you become ill within two weeks before
the start of the courses and are unable to attend the German
courses for this reason. But the cancellation insurance
can only cover the costs if you supply a medical certificate.
The certificate can be written in German or English.
Caution: the cancellation insurance only guarantees a
refund of course fees before the German
courses in Vienna start.
