cars.jpgI really love the city these days. Although I am REALLY cold , it is amazing how much light is reflected by the snow. Today I woke up and saw this image from my window! It is a good excuse to stay lazy in the flay and have a few cups of warm tea.

After 3 months in Deutschakademie

a2.jpggermantext1.jpg yesterday was our last day in class in Deutschakademie.I think everyone was happy to have a Christmas break!we have now finished with level A2/1.December was an intensive month where we went through a lot of new grammar rules, like the declination of adjectives as well as Prateritum and Konjuctiv II as far as verbs are concerned. We were as well introduced to some rules of passiv which will be the main subject of January. I feel the last months there was a lot of progress.I realized a few days ago  that I understand much more at university as well in various social occasions.Plus more confident to develop some simple conversations.

Konzerthaus

festkonzert.jpgThis Sunday I visited the Konzerthaus. We attended a concert my Mariinsky Theater Orchestra from St Peterburgh. The concert was on the last two works of Schostakovich before his death and  directed by Valery Gergiev. It was a really beautiful night both in terms of the music but also because of the stunning concert hall itself. The architecture of the space is impressive up to the last detail. For anyone interested in classical music I think it is one of the main places to start. https://konzerthaus.at/  11.jpg2.jpg 4.jpg

NYC

I was organizing my photos this afternoon,

and for somehow, i still really excited about the trip to NYC before.

I have studied in US for 3 years,
however, i do not have so much time to travel a lot in the state.

Finally, i and my friends arranged a trip to NYC during the spring break.

It is where i saw in the movie all the time but never been to here.

This city is interesting to me because of its nature:
so many people with different culture and background live in the same place!!
You can’t imagine how busy the people are on the street,
just like they are going to catch the Noah’s Ark.

For me,
NYC is where you can get so many different experience in just one place!

Different area has its own characterestic,

may be someone like the Mannhatten area for its business nature,
or some will enjoy the Chinatown with the Asian favour.

Here is one of the place really interesting and need so much time to know it,

that’s why i will choose to come back in the future!

Adventmarkt in der Loamgrui

It is a place called Loamgrui,

about an hour from Vienna.

There is an Adventmarkt there for 2 days only,
and i was lucky to be attended.

The owner will open their weinkeller for the public,
they will like to share their wein and food with people.
I just got in one,
and the owner was really nice and friendly,
we talked a lot.
He talked a lot about how he made the wien.
It is more like, share life with a friend rather than just selling products.

I really appreicate about him because he has his own job besides making wein.
Even he is really busy in both work,
he still enjoyed making wein,
especailly when somebody appreicate with the taste,
he thought all the efforts are worth!!

I stayed for about an hour,
ate a lot,
and finally,
the owner gave me a bottle of wein for free!!
Just because he really wants more people to taste his creation!!!
How amazing is it?!!

However, the markt just opened for 2 days ,
but for sure, i will visit it again next time when it is opened!!

Trip to Znojmo

that’s a town which takes about 40 mins from Laa,

and it is a nice place.

unlike big city,

this town gives me a very peaceful feeling.
It makes me feeling about going back to the past,
less cars in the street,
people walk and live slowly,a
nd they are really nice even we don’t share a common language.

I spent a afternoon there,
walk around the town,
try to use the speed of living here,
never hurry in walking, watching and eating.

You will start to feel how relax you are,
and how a breathe can be different.

Yea, i really enjoy this lazy afternoon~

trip to Laa

Have to thank for my friend bringing me here

it is the Rathaus of Laa,
the reason we go here is for a Spa hotel~
We have spent our weekends in that hotel with Sauna, swimming and eating.
That’s my first time to try a sauna…

Not really good in feeling at first,
and finally decide to get in the one with lower temperature.

Otherwise,
it is fun to be there,
and thank for my friend in giving me such an special experience!!

Winter in MQ

I  have only recently realized that Vienna is full of Christmas markets..everywhere.I am personally not a big fan of Christmas spirit, in the sense of shops and things. However I found the Xmas version in Museum Quartier quite interesting..In the main plaza a series of igloo-like kiosks have been installed that serve warm wine and beer as far as i know.It is pretty nice as every night it is quite busy and sometimes there a DJ set in one of the kiosks. And when you get freezing cold, you just run to „Kantine“ in the front and have a proper drink at the bar!

on-line radios

Another tip for improving your listening skillsMy discovery these days are two online austrian radio stations where one can listen to some good tunes as well as news , comments, book and exhibitions critiques etcThe first one is mainly based on classical music and some cool talks from people on politics, art  and music https://oe1.orf.at/  The other , Radio4 , is a bit more mainstream with quite a varied programme https://fm4.orf.at/So enjoy them. It’s free learning while spending some time at home

Frida Kahlo

Another exhibition I would definitely suggest people to visit is the Frida Kahlo exhibition in the Bank Austria Kunstforum.Frida Kahlo is a painter born in 1907 in Mexico. She is famous for her large number of self-portraits depicting herself in various stages of her life. The paintings are beautiful, full of colors and details, telling her story through metaphors and surrealist images.Perhaps many people have seen the film made a few years ago-which is actually quite nice-but nothing compares to the real thing. Beware though, the exhibition ends on the 5th of December.More details on: https://www.bankaustria-kunstforum.at/en/exhibitions/preview/46

Words and Phrases

While on my second month at the Deutschakademie I am quite happy to see that I can start to communicate with people at shops, restaurants and simple conversations with other students at University. And that feels good! In general we have been focusing in class on prepositions-pretty complicated business!- and also the past tenses. My aim is to start using all the vocabulary I have learned up to know in order to make my points as clear a possible during a conversation. Not an easy job for a beginner in german since you have to think quite a lot of grammar before actually saying exactly what you want to say. But practice makes perfect-or is at least the right way to perfection, right?  ; )
