Ger-man-ia

This is my last post and I am thinking what would be a good ending… But I prefer to write about a good beginning! 🙂

Thanks to the Deutschakademie (that was one of the best decision to learn here, the best in Austria 🙂 ), now I can use the German language – ok, not perfectly, and sometimes not good at all – but I use it! I live in Vienna, I live in Austria and I am living in the middle of the new language 🙂 It is a such good feeling to know a culture and I think I got a big slice of Austria! The 16er Ottakringer, the wein spritz, the Citybike, the Prater, the hills, the funny placards and the huge green parks! I am full of the fresh experiences and memories! While I was learning the German, I was learning from Vienna also. So I am ready now to use this knowledge and I will use it well 🙂 (I am saying goodbye with hoping to get a chance to learn here again)

Shocking showing :-)

Today I would like to share with you my experience in Vienna: the art on the streets. Vienna – as every big city – has the individual view of art or of life. In this case it is the freedom. I think Vienna believes in freedom of expression.

You can see it on the people and guess what, on the placards also. How many times have you seen a funny or shocking poster on the street? In Vienna I think so many times! On the attached picture: this is my favorite from the last year. It is so cool and makes me smile!

And another way to express the freedom is the fashion. And of course I have an example for this topic! 🙂 Mariahilf and Neubau are Vienna’s creativ and „hip“, „bobo“ styled districts. You should visit these streets and „windowshopping“ for a while. Your eyes are not able to get enough of the scenery!

Vienna guide directly from the Vienneses

To tell the truth when I arrived to Vienna, I was a little bit afraid – how can I manage my free time in this big city? How will I know the sights, the good places and the programs?

In my philosophy if you know more about the citizens, you can learn more about the language.

I mean as a young person I want to know the real face of Vienna and join to the rhythm of it… So I finally solved it. But how? You should just know the good offices 🙂 I found a really good one in the heart of the city, called WienXtra-jugendinfo. There are free issues like maps, program offers, also specialised for girls. You can buy tickets there and if you need personal help, there are friendly administrators who will help you 😉 So I recommend you to check that place – worth it!

Enjoy Vienna – enjoy reading!

Dear German learners! 🙂 I would like to share one of my secret of my learning methods – guess what, the secret is the newspapers! There are so many ways of learning a language, but one of the best is the reading the news.

Why? That is actual, that has „official“ tonality and that has plenty of new vocabulary. So what newspaper should we choose? I prefer the free ones: easy to get it and you will not be sorry for scribbling it while you learning 🙂 And whats are my favourite issues? Let’s see: enjoy Vienna (!), City&Life and Heute. Where can you get them? Everywhere in Wien: at the stations, in the offices – just walk with your eyes open! 😉

Fashion – Wiener Wiesn

Have you heard about Wiener Wiesn? No? But for sure you have seen it! 🙂 There are on the tram, on the streets and in the shops, also in the newspapers… So what is it? This is originally traditional volkfashion!

Although it is traditionally more conservative wear, nowadays this fashion is trendy, colorful, loud and shining. And guess what: you could go in that to the party, to eat an icecream or whatever you like! It is so common in the everyday life, at this is fantastic! I have never seen before that this kind of tradition can exist in the modern life. If you do not beleive in me, check the festival of it from 19th of September: Wiener Wiesn-Fest 2013 – I think it will be fun!

DeutschAkademie – 3 weeks fun

For me today is the last lesson 🙁 I can’t believe that 3 weeks just gone away… It was just so fun! 10 people from everywhere of the world and they just had an entertaining time together. I think I was laughing on every lesson – somebody has always a funny story of her life! And our teacher was just amazing! Energetic, patient and really helpful! So that was a perfect 3 weeks to start my German studies 😉

And what do I have after the course? I have many friends to meet in Vienna now if I feel alone, I have a basic German skills what is important in the everyday life, and I have many-many good memory of the August in the DeutschAkademie… Thank you so much! <3

die Uhrzeiten – what’s the time?

One day in Wien: Wie spät ist es?

8:00 – It is time to get up and eat something good in a good bakery: Kipferl, Krapfen, Koffee ( Wiener Melange)… Hm 🙂

9:00 – Let’s go for a walk – it is so nice city, don’t rest in you room! – and see: Belveder, Karlskirche, MQ…if you do not hear about these sights, you should check them 😉

12:00 – Wien is a „melange“ – as my teacher says – so try one food of the culturs: Chinese, Japanese, Italian!

15:00 – Ok, do some useful now: learn some German 🙂 I had 3 weeks of German courses and I enjoy to practice it in the city!

18:00 – What should we eat for dinner? No question: Würstel!

20:00 – It is time for fun! Wien is just perfect for this: let’s go to the Prater: lights, sounds and more and more rides and machines 🙂

23:00 – Go to sleep – hm, but wait, who will do the homework for the German lesson? 😛

Himmelsrichtungen – which is my way?

Nordlich, östlich, westlich, südlich… We learned the directions at the last courses, but how can we use it? Just open your favorite map of Vienna and go 😉 My favorite map is published by WienXtra – they have many important issues for free and they have an office as well where you can get these prospects – so this map is a free map for young travelers made by locals. Inside there are many useful tips to visit.

But one of my most beautiful memory to see Vienna was the Wiener Riesenrad. So amazing panorama! There you can really practice the directions 🙂 Everyone should try it! (Of course on a sunny day… 🙂 )

Ice-cream – I scream: Tichy!

The summer is close to the end, but you should not miss one thing: the Tichy! This is what I offer to you for the last days of summer 🙂

There is a great, gratis newspaper in every month – called „enjoy Vienna„. By the way in these newspapers every article is bilingual: German and English. Very useful for the German beginners! 😉 In the august issue of „enjoy Vienna“ there is an article: Eis & Meister. And of course they mention the Tichy in the „Best of ice-cream break„.

So just take an eis-pause and try it on the Reumannplatz! Enjoy your weekend and enjoy a good Wiener ice-cream! <3

Mein, dein, sein

Today we stepped to the next level: first level: der, die, das, then second level is: mein, dein, sein…

Mein goal is to get basic level in German. Mein plan is to work here and join to the „Wiener feeling“. Mein opinion is: Wien is sher gut! I do not want to miss this experience to live here for a while.

Dein task is to join this group here: Here to the Deutschakademie to fall in love with German language and in the city also – as I did. Here to Wien, because the thinking here is so free and green! Here to this beautiful cultural and historical atmosphere…

Then sein problem could be if she/he miss this 😛
