Being in another country may seem very difficult and to learn a language where there are many different dialects spoken could heard unreachable.
However, learning German in Austria is not as scary as it sounds, you can look in the positive side and look forward cultural issues that could connect you from a different perspectives than rather crash through the language obstacle.

One way of approaching any culture is its music and of course the musical city of Vienna wouldn´t be the exception. Being the fifth of the Austrian population in Vienna, we are able to approach to a variety of people who may have links from some of the nine regions. This may seem frustrating when we think that there are different dialects in every region. However there is a salvation, music.

The Austrians may seem open to the global culture but they also can be very proud of the national music and it is a nice way to get closer to their culture.

In Austria there is a type of music that connects the entire country emotionally this is what is called „Schnulzen“ which according to Wikipedia is the definition of emotive and kitsch music. Whenever there is a festival in the country or even in some bars in the capital you can hear these „Schnulzen“ and if you pay attention you will notice that for many Austrians these rhythms are in their subconscious, because these rhythms are played year by year at various festivals and gatherings around the country.

One of the most famous Schnulzen I’ve heard is „I am from Austria“ by Rainhard Fendrich and can be very complex to understand but youtube has videos with lyrics. Another good example of a Schnulzen is „du entschuldige i kenn di“ by Peter Cornelius. Ambros was a singer beloved by the Austrian population and his songs are very entertaining you could surprised anyone if you just sing the chorus of „Zwickts mir“ or „Du versteht my ned“.
