Hi Deutschakademie

Hi, I am Diana! I will write about learning German and living in Vienna for the next four weeks (or maybe for longer?). I was born in South Korea and raised also in Qingdao, China and Baltimore, USA. After finishing my uni in the USA, I decided to take a break for a year before heading off for grad school, making my way to Vienna. I first visited Vienna back in May 2015, when I fell in love with the city and toured through most attractions in the city. Then I came back in December to experience the Christmas market and celebrate 2016! I moved to Vienna in late May but traveled around for a couple months.

I had never taken a German class before until I started A1.1 in Deutschakademie last month. Although I speak a few languages, German will be a new challenge since it is still rather different from the languages I speak. Starting A1.2 today, I am excited to speak more both in and outside the class. We ended A1.1 with Perfekt and Akkusativ and started today with Dativ and prepositions. Now I can finally understand directions in German (maybe with some more practice tomorrow).

IMG_7640In addition, since I decided to stay for a year, I got Wiener Linen’s Jahreskarte, that started on the first of September, for all the public transportations within the city limit since it is a better deal than buying 12 monthly tickets. I followed every step to get the Jahreskarte as I was instructed on its website. Then, about a week later, I got this little number on the mail. Clearly, Vienna doesn’t care about my normalsy.
