Student from Pakistan… Learning German in Vienna!!!

So today is my first day in A1.2 course!!!

Hello all. This is Shan. I am originally from Pakistan. I am living in Austria since 2012. I came to Austria to pursue master degree. I studied in University of Applied Sciences Kufstein-Tyrol. While all my studies and degree was in English, I was always obsessed to learn German language, as it is definitely required if one decides to stay in Austria for good. But being an English speaking student, it was quite a difficult journey to build a surrounding where I can learn and practice basic German language skills. Most of my day was spent in university where I was bounded to use English. As for the social life, almost all my friends were from non-German speaking country and thus preferred English. Though I had few native German speaking friends with whom I was able to grasp some basic language skills of their mother tongue. Outside my social surrounding and academic life, I was obliged to use German language, as the university I was studying is located in a tiny beautiful town of Austria where locals prefer to preserve the tradition and culture, thus it was kind of awkward to use English as a medium of communication. In this way, I learned the basics of the Austrian native language but then I felt I am stuck at one level where I can understand what I want but cannot express my feelings out of the box. I was already able to use the my kind of broken German language in the daily life but definitely that was not sufficient for regular life or a life after passing out from the university. At that level, I decided to opt for a German course to learn the language smoothly.

P.S; In the pictures you can see beautiful Kufstein, from where I started my journey!!!IMG_7855 IMG_7857 IMG_7903
