The Best Way To Feel The Austrian History!

Hi Everyone!

Today I would like to advice you one special museum! On the first Sunday of the month some museums open their doors for all visitors for free. If someone has not heard about it, here is the list of museums, which you are able to visit on the first Sunday of the month: Wien Museum Karlsplatz, Hermesvilla, Römermuseum, Museum of military history, Uhremuseum, Otto Wagner Hofpavillon Hietzing, Pratermuseum and some others. Last Sunday, not so much time ago, I visited Museum of military history. Honestly, I did not expect that exchibitions are so valuable and meaningful not only for Austrian history, but also for the entire world!
The museum is located within the Vienna Arsenal in the Landstrasse district, which is near Belvedere Palace. Even the building itself is worth seeing! This is a huge brick building, which is a bit different from the usual classical architecture of Vienna, and from the first sigth, it refelcts the power and strength. The museum is full of valuable and interesting exhibitions, which tell the story of Austrian wars and the history of the Imperial Army from the time of the Thirty Years‘ War till the First World War. You could find unique weapons, pictures, soldiers‘ uniforms and examples of military transport.

For me, the main exhibit of the museum was this car. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were sitting in this car and then were killed by a Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. That was the reason for the outbreak of hostilities in 1914, which led to the First World War.

Thus, I strongly recommend this museum for visiting, as it is the best way to immerse yourself in the history of Austria.

P.S. On ordinary day the ticket costs only € 4,00-6,00.

Best Wishes,

Valeriia
