Where to go in Vienna

My family moved from Ukraine. Here we are absolutely alone because all our relatives live in different parts of Ukraine. Of course, we miss them so much. That is why they come to visit us.

Every visit starts the same as the previous one. As we live in the 5th district, not far away from Karlsplatz and Opera, the first evening with our relatives we spend showing Karl’s Church, then we go to the City Park and finish our ‘first-day excursion’ near the Opera. I like these places. They remind me my first days here.

Every time, our friends and relatives ask me to tell them the most beautiful places in Vienna that they can visit. So, I have the following list:

  1. St. Stephan’s Cathedral. The Catholic cathedral that is known to be the national symbol of Austria.
  2. Schoenbrunn Palace. That is the main summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty. Schoenbrunn Palace is the largest buildings of the Austrian Baroque.

3. Schoenbrunn Zoo. The zoo is situated in the territory of the Schoenbrunn Palace. It is the oldest zoo in the world.

4. Belvedere. The palace complex was built by Lucas von Hildebrant as a summer residence for the greatest commander, the Prince Eugene Savojsky in the 18th century. After the death of the prince, the palace was bought by Maria Theresia.

5. Vienna City Hall. That is the seat both of the Mayor of Vienna and the chambers of the city council.

6. The house of Hundertwasser. The building has a ‘rolling’ floor and its roof is covered with soil with bushes and grass.

7. Prater. It is known to be the large public park and recreation area in Vienna.

8. House of the Sea. That is the home to 10,000 species that include crocodiles, snakes, sharks. It also has tropical animals.

9. Technical Museum. Its collection includes mainly models and exhibits that cover the history of Austrian technological development.

But this list is not complete. There are also many other sights that should be visited. And I hope I will explore all of them.
