Hello hello! Hope you are doing well!! I’m Sebastian, I come from Colombia and I have been here in Vienna since July; I came here with the idea of enter to the music university of Vienna (Mdw) but why Vienna? You should be asking yourself as every body have ask me, or have ask you or will ask you, since I arrived here (it seems to be the ice breaking question for choice); well to be completely honest I don’t know why, was a matter of luck or taking the chance, and as the most of things that takes you for surprise, I wasn’t prepare, didn’t know anything of German, anything about Austria and just a little about Vienna, just for my musical background. Was a tough decision, leaving my family, my friends, my university, my projects; but I really wanted to take new challenges, make new goals and well as everybody be able to live new experiences. So in a matter of two months I decided what I was going to do, I organized everything, bought the tickets and came here.

And the language? well I started to learn German in another institute, actually this is my first month in “Deutsch Akademy”, and at the beginning trying to speak with other people was a little frustrating and I prefered to speak languages that I already know (spanish or english); but wow there is an amazing moment in which your German does “click” and you start to understand other people (that to be fair doesn’t have an strong dialect), you start to think more in German, you chat with other people and with yourself in German, the German words are more easy to memorize and well every thing is much much better. So it gots better just be patient. And well all I just said is with the sincerely purpose of encourage you and encourage my self, to continue studying this amazing language, to take risks and have fun. And if you are already sure that you want to make this…why not Vienna? You will not regret.
